About Psychopharmacology

Psychopharmacology is the practice of using medications to treat psychiatric disorders. It has been found to be very helpful for some people.

I prescribe medication for some, but not all, of my patients. I also prescribe medications for patients who are seen by other therapists. Please note that it is rare for me to prescribe medication for patients who are not in therapy at all.

Some people may be concerned that alleviating or reducing symptoms by taking medication might stop them from making progress in therapy. Scientific studies and my own experience have shown that this is rarely the case. Properly prescribed medication in the right dosage often helps to alleviate symptoms and has been allows patients to make better progress in therapy and improve their lives.
